Tomatoes what disease have I got now!

Can't remember name s beef tomato. Some will ripen most probably won't. Should I remove some, would that help to ripen?

Not really a disease, the fruit is imperfectly formed - not that unusual with beefsteak tomatoes which sometimes forget the script!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

It  is very common on the larger fruited varieties, as already said. It's called catfacing, if you want to find out more about it ;)

I regularly grow beesteak tom's and have seen brown grooves across the surface.  It doesn't detract on the flavour. Nothing as distinctive as yours though.

Cheers,  Tony.

I’ve got loads like that! They still taste good. I just cut out any of the ‘rougher’ bits ;)

I lived in Spain for a good few years and I'd see the Spanish housewives carefully choosing the imperfect ones. I soon learnt that when it comes to big tomatoes, the rougher looking they were, and still with patches of green, the more delicious they were.
