hairline crack in fertile egg
« on: September 16, 2012, 18:41 »
I candled an egg today after 4 days incubation (under broody) there was a hairline crack across it. Can a chick survive? I did bin it as I was worried about it cracking further and wasting the nest, but now I wish I'd checked first!

I would have binned it. If you can see the crack, then it's probably wide enough to let in all manner of bacteria and could explode if left or cause birth defects.
