Two of my three girls have had a partial moult and one has started laying again. The other (top of the pecking order) has taken it harder. She is off her food a bit....(although she's a greedy so-and-so and still stops the others from feeding!) and her comb has gone pink rather than vibrant red like the other two. She hasn't laid for over a month.
I usually give them meal worms for their afternoon treat. These are packed with protein and they used to go mad for them but they have gone off them!!! They're going mad for greens and pasta.....
I know the short days play their part but do you think Phyllis will actually lay again? I'm not worried about her health (they have supplements, regular worming etc..) but 4/5 weeks seems a long time.....

Hopefully she'll lay for longer if she has a break so doesn't use up so many eggs!

I have a dozen girls and only get 6-8 eggs a day as a number of them are moulting, sometimes even less.  I don't mind they have served me well and they deserve a break.
