Geraniums - when to take cuttings?

geraniums! whats the best thing to do? take cutting now,or protect the main plant all winter and take cuttings in the spring :?:

I'll move this to general gardening for you nogger.

I don't know many folk that eat geraniums - I'm sure there must be somewhere though!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Taste horrible  :puker:

You need to do them now if you are going to do them and keep them warmish till they have rooted, and frost free all winter.
Or wait till spring and take them as softwood cuttings, easy either way but it's traditional to do them about Sept I think ?

Have a look at the FAILED CUTTINGS thread towards the bottom of the page . I recieved some interesting advise on the same subject.
I seem now to be getting some better results [a long way to go]

Yes, I remember the "failed cuttings" thread.  But really Richy is right so just try some of both, but keeping them frost free and not overwatered through winter is very important.  Mrs Bouquet
