Repainting a shed a different colour.
« on: March 30, 2008, 21:04 »
i wondered if anyone can help with the slight problem i have, the wife ha sdecided in her wisdom that she no longer likes the Autumn gold
(orange) colourof our shed and she'd now like it green. So my question is two fold
1. Is there a special/ better quality colour wood preserver that will cover the old colour in less than 20 coats. ( have done two and still glowing a lovely orange through it)
2. Do i have to literally coat it with Paint rather than wood preserative.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

tough one, only easy way is to paint with primer then one/two coats of colur you want, cuprinol or ronseal is loads better than any others, the more you pay the better quality, elimentry realy, but primer would be easiest.
we can plant a house, we can build a tree

I spent £21.99 on a tin of paint for me shed     It said it covers old water based paints and creosote.  It lied  :(   It's all peeling off

Cuprinol works fine and I wish I'd stuck with it     You live and learn  :(

many thanks, will try the more expensive such as cuprinol rather than
B & Q special. As for black would love to paint it that colour but she who must be obeyed would not be too impressed.
whilst i,m here anyone got any good ideas for edging, i need about 18 metres as i intendd to put chippings on one side of my garden and raised beds on the other. everything seems to be expensive for the amount that i require. have considered timber but not to sure about it. any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

yeah thanks i think i'll try timber as it's only to keep the chippings in one place rather than to look pretty. cheers :D
