How long does this process take :?:  I currently have a brood of 9 ko-shamo eggs under a ko-shamo hen. Around 5 out of the 9 showed cracks yesterday in the shells and this morning one has made its way out and the 8 other eggs are all cracking and pipping. How long is this process supposed to take? from signs of pipping to fully hatched

sorry ,,,,,,  but the how long is a piece of string comes in here ,some come in minutes others take longer if you see that a chick may be trying to get out and is getting tired just use a pair of sterile tweezers and chip a little shell away from the point where the chick is working on

it can take 4 to 5 hurs

but it should be said really you should not help the chick out of the shell

Cant really do that munty as they are in the barn down the paddock and i dont like disturbing the mother etc etc...i would have thought a couple of hours but some of these must be going on 14 hours already

14 hours  :shock:  thats rather long i would check that some are not DOA if they are then remove them

it can take a whole day, they do say if the chick cant get out on its own, then its not meant to be.
