and it is very, very overgrown.   :(

But my dad (a gardener) came with me and said that it will be easy enough to clear and has great soil.  I had two halves to choose from and have gone for the half that has a shed and home made greenhouse on as it also has a brilliant compost heap, 6 water butts and lots of old canes and things in the shed.

It also has some established raspberry canes, some rhubarb and some sunflowers on.

We had a look around at the other allotments and there are some fantastic things growing.  There are around 40 allotments (some still kept whole and lots split into two halves) and there is also an allotment society which I am keen to join (although I dont know anything about it).

I am off to the town council on Monday to tell them which half we want and to pay my money so that we can get started on clearing the weeds next week.   I must remember to take some photos of it now so that we can compare it in a years time.
I always find that work gets in the way of life.

Well done debih. That's all your spare time sorted for the next few years then.    Now is probably a good time to start because you can clear it and plan it well in advance for next year.
Good luck and enjoy.

hi, i also have just aquired a plot and in my second weekend have managed to clear and seed an area 2.5mtr by 4. my plan now is to prepaire another area of similar size and cover the rest.this will allow to create an area to slab for my shed. the goodnews for you is your shed and surroundings are already there ,so if you enjoy your weeding and listen to your father you could have a nice plot established quite soon so good luck and happy digging, this site will give lots of great advice to help you
when im with my 9yr old she's the sensible one

Will do scabs.  I have been into the town hall today to tell them which plot I want and they are sending me the tenancy agreement off and have said that we can get started whenever we want.

Realistically I dont think we will get anywhere near it until the weekend and then we wont get that much done if the weather is bad as it needs strimming first.

But I will get some photos taken as soon as we get up there.

The next thing is for me to buy some decent wellies!

I don't know if i have been in the right section, but i have replied to a few post recommending a product called (Roundup) in aprox 2 weeks it will kill eveything on your lotty down to the roots, then you can dig or rota it and plant straight away, but don't spray on a windy day it will kill everything it gets into contact with (plants that is)   :D
