HI we have got holes appearing all over our runners and potatoes! looks like it could be caterpillars but no sign of them, had a good scout round but all ive seen a bout 5 black fly thats all! any ideas?  :?

I get them too on my beans. No sure what is eating them, but I plan to douse the works with a dish washing liquid/water solution as often as possible. The plants won't die as is, but it does weaken them. Spray upper and lower sides of leaves and ground surface. Repeat after every rainfall until it looks like the problem is solved.
