Another one of my Silkies laid her 1st egg today. She is 32 weeks old so about time  :happy: And of course she announced it to the street.
She has been in and out of the coop several times a day for the last week or so.

Just one more silkie to start laying and the 2 wyandottes. I think one of the wyandottes wont be too long as she is in and out of the coop a lot at the minute too.

That is great news hopefully they will lay through the winter for you.

I hope so too, dont want to have to buy any

as silkies are known to go broody at the drop of an egg make sure you go and check for eggs several times a day otherwise you may end up buying eggs after all

Yes joyfull, that will just be my lot i reckon. Get them all laying for them all to go broody

Or invest in a rollaway insert for the nest box.

We're on a roll alright, a third one has started laying today. Think its the 3rd silkie as the wyandottes are probably still a bit young at 22 weeks.

nerdle, i'm not the most patient person and i know how you feel.

I always find that when i stop looking for them everyday they arrive. I stopped looking a long time ago with these though, its been that long.

There was a frog waiting for me in the run this morning  I really dont like them. My hubby got rid of it for me  only to find another one much larger waiting for me when i went to shut them up for the night. Hubby to the rescue again. (I have to deal with the spiders, he deals with frogs)
I really dont want any more.

My pekins not laid yet Nerdle and I think we got at same time.

I think our 'first egg' day will be next year now.  It's fine - I just love haivng them around anyway.
