It all seemed so sensible to begin with..

No.1 Son dug out the trenches which were about 8 to 10 inches deep, yesterday for me and together this afternoon we collected grass from the grass heap.  

Hubby appeared, fresh from the office.... and proceeded to lay the grass along the trenches, about two inches deep.

and then..

the process began, and I think at some stage, between my nagging hubby to get a move on, and oldest son heckling his father, it all became a bit competative.......between them...

oh I wish I'd taken a photograph...

The ridges must be about 12 to 14 inches high.....  

So the spuds could be about twenty inches from daylight...  

Do you think this is too far

flatten them off 4 inches and leave em about a a ft wide at the top they will be fine . hope ya didnt overdo the grass cos it rots and may start rot in ya spud s

I've been given another method of planting pots. by my "new best friend" next door but one allotment holder.  He's been gardening there for 30 years  :shock:

But I think I'll try it out before I tell you about it
