What tomatoes are you growing?
« on: June 14, 2012, 14:04 »
Just curious ;)

I cheated and bought plants from the GC, but I have a wide selection of colours and sizes...

I'll write my list when I can get back to my notebook ;)

OK, I've got:

Andine Cornu
Pineapple
Orange bourgoin
Rose de Berne
Black Krim
Russe rouge
Green Zebra
Gold Nugget
Trilly
Yellow Pear
Lemon Boy
Pepe
Supersweet 100
Couer de pigeon
Montavet F1 63.5
Roma Olivette
Orange Queen
Pyros F1
Super Steak F1
and possibly Lucy - bit of a mystery plant from GC :)

Cuban Black
Purple Ukraine - plum
Purple Cherokee
Scotland Yellow
Lemon Drop
Carlton
Black Cherry
Rio Grande - plum
San Marzano - plum
Cuor di Bue
Maja Bush & Gartenperle in pots.

They are in the greenhouses with the overspill on the 'lotment  :D

Fingers crossed that our summer improves enough to ripen them   ::)

Edit It seems that it's important to add that they were all grown from seed by me  ::)  :D

Its still only June. Our first tomato ripened in late August last year due the whole summer being cool.

Red Alert
Inca (plum)
Sweet Million
Sungold

Red Alert is semi-outdoors (cold frame) but is still ahead of the others in the greenhouse, although they're all behind where they were this time last year.

Sweet 100
Stupice
Sub-arctic plenty
Siberian.

The larger plants started flowering nowand the first tiny green tomatoes have appeared.

Not bad for Finland and without a greenhouse. It did involve moving around the plants a lot.

2 'Roma' (bought plants)
1 'Alicante' (again bought - I thought I was a bit late with the seeds!!)
3 'Gardeners' Delight' - home grown by my own green fingers :tongue2:

I have green tom fruits on the 'Roma' plants already.

I've only got 10 varieties this year.

Garten pearle
Inca
Roma
Yellow plum
Tigerella
Money maker (because Brian wanted some 'ordinary' tomatoes, not those 'funny' ones I usually grow!  ::))
Gardener's Delight
Hildare F1, (another 'ordinary' looking one for Brian!)
Marmande
Floridity (I only got 2 of these, but my saved seed is 6 years old!)

I also bought six , all different, when a lot of mine gave up. But also have Incas and about eight beef tomatoes in the ground. They did better last year outside than in the greenhouse. Time will tell if this year is as successful.

5 sungold, 3 in greenhouse 2 outside. The outside ones appear to be doint better, more trusses and less leggy.

3 coure di blu (sp?). In greenhouse, looking ok.

2 legend, ouside, ok but a bit windswept!

3 roma, outside, looking ok

2 rio, outside, looking ok, with a few small toms forming!

Oh, and 1 vilma, from old seed. Sowed a few and was happy to even get one!

All toms grown from seed but kept in my veg patch at home rather than lottie due to previous blight and watering issues.

Some of you guys must have huge greenhouses or polytunnels, the amount of different toms you're growing!
I'll bet you have other greenhouse veg in with the toms too!

Very jealous!
I have an 8x6 greenhouse and I pack it full every year but I'd never get that many toms in! :D
