A peek at my "new" plot
« on: June 15, 2010, 21:13 »
Well last year was pretty much disastrous plot wise, new village plot wise and else wise too.

Knocked the wind out of my sails hence I've not been around here much either.

I've started a new hobby, lawn bowls supposed to bit of an old timers game but me and my youngest son love it, I fish more now than ever & I'm taking archery lessons at the weekends with number 5 son

Anyhow I thought a few of my old friends would like to see what I'm up to so here it is :

And not a paper pot in sight ;)

He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

It looks lovely, I'm assuming that is your back garden?  I spent many an hour down at the plot this year making paper pots for all my brassicas - thank you!

Yes it's my back garden, the courgettes have kind of taken over  ::) somewhere underneath them are sweetcorn plants that went on strike as the courgette's went into overdrive, 2 sisters not 3  ;)

Nice one Richie.  What's in the pots attached to the fence posts? :)
Cheese makes everything better.

Looks like strawberries to me!- but may be wrong!
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

Strawberries, each pot's overflow runs into the one below and so on

Hi Rich, nice to see you back one.

Looks good.

Son/daughter of Nessie has gone rampant!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Looks lovely Richy!

And bowls, whether lawn or indoor is very popular now even with youngsters.  My old next door neighbour's daighter, SIL and 2 children used to do indoor bowls (not 10 pin!)  and they were very good, even winning championships at a young age, and an old friend of my Mum was going to teach my Brian lawn bowls, but he died before he got the chance!

Sounds like your life is very fulfilling, good on you mate!   :D :D

Nice little setup, Richy, but does it feed the crowd? I'm sure the courgettes will  :D

Love what u are doing. Its a lovely productive plot.  Keep telling my OH that he needs to get rid of his large shed in my tiny back yard so I can get a greenhouse but he just goes deaf boo hoo lol.

Showed  him your pics as an example of how many more wooden raised beds/troughs etc u can get in a small back yard and he said he was refusing to look lol (I have a small back yard, some planting in the front garden and an allotment too, so am just greedy really lol).

I have two triffid (huge) courgettes in the back yard too. The third is more of the expected size.  Its my first time growing courgettes so I am interested to see where the courgettes themselves grow.., I have had gigantic flowers so far lol. Assuming the courgettes actually grow, its amazing what u can do when u aren't an expert lol.
