hedgerow fruit ident
« on: July 29, 2009, 20:55 »
Hi

I keep seeing small yellow plum like fruits that have fallen off trees, i've not had a proper look or taken a pic.

Are they edible and if so what can i use them for? (jams/wine pies etc etc)

Thanks

Not sure if we have poisonous or toxic yellow plum type fruit , if it has a plum type stone in it i myself would risk a nibble. Most of the wild yellow plums i`ve tried have been very bland and not worth jamming. If i do find a good tasty one the fruit is often more stone than flesh. :)

small yellow and plum-like could be any one a dozens of unripe things! Fruit pic and leaf pic would be needed.

How are people finding this year for sloes?

Too late for them to be cherries?
