I bought 10 45gallon blue drums a couple of years ago the drums  where used for chemicals so I washed them out well with hot water and Jayes fluid  after cutting the tops of  with a disk cutter then drilled a hole in the side and put a plastic tap in we use some on the greenhouses and down the allotments

If you have a recycling centre near you could try there or go on line to see if there are any large 45 gall drums for sale they would be cheaper  than a proper water butt just make sure the seller tells you what its had in it and if you do buy one wash it  very well so its clean and no contamination our drums are perfect even when they freeze up in the winter it doesn't effect them good hunting

I'd check on your local council website before buying anything, Mrs B.  Sometimes they liaise with a company that offers water butts, composter and the like at really good prices, and usually delivery is free.
