Title: Best tools for digging up and repositioning large shrubs
Post by: Emma Fletcher on August 06, 2020, 13:12
Hi, I’m going to be repositioning about 10 large mature shrubs later this year when I can open up my garden onto land we’re buying behind us. My question is which tools should I invest in to do this? A couple of good spades and then a root saw/blade? Do I go for an electric saw? Ooo and I’ll need my first wheelbarrow too! Thanks!

I have never looked back since getting a mattock,  breaks up the ground a treat and hacks into awkward places.  I guess you might need a saw as well though depending on the type of shrubs.

What you need is the local squadron of boy scouts!   (I'll get me coat). :tongue2:

Cheers,  Tony.

I would have a look on FB local Marketplace for a mini digger with operator hire.

Hello if you have a local tree nursery and have a good access into the garden  ask them nicely if they have a tractor /skid loader with a tree spade these machines will dig the hole where you want it then dig the shrubs out and pop them into the previous dug hole ,have a look on YouTube at  tree diggers ,saves you a bad back  jezza
