Empty Broad Bean Pods
« on: July 09, 2008, 21:13 »
Hi All! Advice please...
We planted some broad beans in the autumn and they have produced lovely fat looking pods. When we harvested them we were disappointed to find that the pods only contained one or two beans - very tasty but not enough!!
We have planted a different variety this spring so it will be interesting to see if the same happens.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Pollination problem.

If there are tiny little startlets of beans at all, that's some nutrient difficiency, Calcium, if my memory serves me right.
