Mucky bottom, waddling and hunched up.
« on: March 19, 2012, 13:10 »
My goldline hybrid (lunch) isn't looking too well, although she seem to be still eating/drinking but not as much or as enthusiastically as normal.

I've done the usual, checked for lump, bump and mites , wormed, garliced, ACV'ed , supplemented food with corn, porridge , poultry spicy and there's fresh water / grit / shell  and pellets available.

I cleaned her up in a luke warm bath last week but she's just as mucky again.

Have I missed anything ? Her coop mate is fine.

Sorry to hear your hen is unwell. You mention waddling and this is a symptom of egg yolk peritonitis, where the yolk gets separated from the shell and ends up in the abdomen, rather than being laid.

When you say mucky bottom, is there any sign of yolk or shell? Another symptom is swelling in the abdomen

If in doubt I would take her to a vet as soon as you can.
