Whilst my husband has been in hospital (and still is until possibly tomorrow) my three cats have nearly tripped me over several times, taking it in turn to sit on my knee, pawing me gently, and just generally been loving. Anyone else find this?

I'm not a cat person but I think all pets know when you need a bit of comfort and they try to give it in their own way.  I had Boxers, a dog and a  bitch and the dog (Rocky) was always the most affectionate towards me if I felt 'down'.

Our dog Lily usually comes to sit next to me when she knows I'm putting my feet up, but she'll always go to Mrs Growster for a different sort of chat when we get back from our walks.

She's getting a super-long walk in an hour's time, as we're off to the local orchards where she can get off the lead and run around in the freedom with her two great pals, and me and my chum can just chat about life in general...
