I soaked pearl barley last night, which isn't strictly necessary, unlike pulses. Sausages, pearl barley, root veg and lots of herbs and spices, bubbling in the oven. Thats me done for 3 nights

Thats me done for 3 nights I've never been able to face pearl barley since, when I was very young, my nan used to boil it up and then make us drink the thick, pinky coloured liquid, telling us it was "good for your kidneys". You REALLY don't want to know what she did when we had chilblains!
