Anyone growing "Petit Posy"?
« on: July 23, 2010, 19:39 »
I'm growing the new sprout variety "Petit posy" which is a cross between a sprout and kale.  Supposed to taste like spring greens.

Anyhoo, mine all look different, as if I've mixed up the labels, which I didn't.    Are yours the same?

So I'm a pieon......pionear.......pie in ear......pioneer 8)

As it's a new variety I shall keep everyone posted about the results.  Sounds good to me as I kind of like sprouts, but love kale. :)

Got a pic Ice?
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I'm trying them Ice.  Must say the old flea beetle has had a field day with them despite the enviromesh.  Little blighters have left the ordinary sprouts alone though.  The affected plants are so lace curtainy now I'm not sure they will survive.

Bit too ashamed to photograph mine. They really are in tatters.  Quite sizeable plants when they went in too.   :(

Flea beetle.  Only those plants though.  Left all the other brassicas alone.

That's interesting, no flea beetle on mine, just on other crops.

Im growing them aswell. Fine big plants with no problem at all.
And yes Ice they will look very different. Some should be purple with more flat than curled leaves and some will be green and very curly.
I have some mini kale growth allready where you would normally have sprouts.
Woooooooooooooo

Thanks for that.  I was worried that I had mixed them up, but knew deep down that I hadn't.

I'm trying them this years as well and I thought here we go again I've mixed stuff up first spuds now my sprouts. What a relief - I finally get something in the right place I have some under envirmesh going really well and I had some spare and thought I'd just put them in where some early peas had been - all  un covered and a bit neglected as I kept forgetting to water they are better plants than under the mesh  :nowink: Normally I cant grow any brassicas they either get infested with fly or bolt so I have fingers crossed this year I will have frilly sprouts well sort of sprouts

Also growing these and I too had a variety of plant colours. I did however only plant the more purple seedlings into the final growing position so would be interested if the end result is any dufferent on the greener ones.
