Patience, grasshopper.

Growing plants is all about patience.....

Try  Onions, shallots, broad beans all in pots, Garlic, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Melons, Sweet peppers, Aubergines, Chillies, Butternut Squash

You can start off anything you're going to  plant out later (leeks, beetroot, etc.)

Hmm bumping of posts is irritating.  Someone always comes along in the end I have found.  You can use containers for potatoes.  If you are short of space I would advise just doing first earlys, the taste is so much better that shop bought.

But I think you dont need greenhouse for potatoes
if it is unheated greenhouse you can try number of varieties and start your seeds in them before planting it in the patch.
people try mostly
1. tomato (people over here are mad on trying different varieties)
2. chillies
3. herbs
4. aubs (challenging)
and more and more
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...
