I;ve cut down the haulms on my blighted tatties, and will harvest them in about two weeks as read elsewhere on this site. will the tatties be ok after two weeks to eat? store? can tatties be grown on this ground next year?  and another question regarding my sole pumpkin in the greenhouse-how do I know when to harvest? never grown them before. it's turning yellow/orange and is about the size of a small loaf.   thanks.

They should be fine after the 2 weeks - just make sure you check them in store frequently in case any do turn rotten.

I wouldn't grow them on the same part of the allotment.  Firstly, it's not great practice anyway as you should try to rotate to avoid build-up of pests / diseases and depletion of nutrients.  Secondly, there are likely to be some tiny tubers left behind (there always are, called volunteers) which will potentially retain the blight spores and re-infect new spuds next year.

Pumpkins are ready when they've turned colour and gone hard on the outside.  I'd be surprised if it was ready yet.

Two answers

- best not to grow potatoes on the same ground each year, to avoid the build up of disease

- the pumpkin will the ripe when the stem part gets long cracks in it and the skin is really hard
