How many Rhubarb stems do you get from a rhubarb plant?
Just the one, or lots?

Also, can they be propagated from cuttings?

None of my books have any real information on Rhubarb.
John Seymores book is especially helpful, cut down as appropriate in autumn.
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

Depends on the age of the plant. The older it gets, the more stalks you get. If the plant is young, I'd leave it for the first year, and most of it in its 2nd year. By the 3rd year you can pick some and by the 4th, it's fair game. Manure well each fall and water it once in a while. Stop picking by July so the plant can recover.

They can be propogated from root bits as any rhubarb owner can vouch for.  I've put in root bits about 2" long (5cm) and plants started, but they take a while to come into full production. Be patient.
And don't let animals or kids chew the leaves - very toxic.

Hi Dominic
You will get loads if you look after it ! leave it alone first year by the second you suould get a crumble or two.
Try to Cabbage a Crown from a friend, split it every 4/5 years ,plenty of muck at the end of the year. :)

My rhubarb has gone yellowy.

I am hoping it will pull through and isn't crown rot (aargh!)

I've pulled off the manure mulch just in case it was leaf scorch, but I've been led to believe that they just can't get enough.

Either way, I know rhubarb is pretty hard to kill. Fingers crossed...

Keep an eye on it, it can be a few things. If it's freshly planted, make sure it does not go dry.
