Hi all

I decided to try Early potatoes in grow bags (having read lettice posts from 2016) - I wondered please what depth I should plant the seed potaotes in the bags - ie how much soil/compost below the seed potatoes and how much above.  Also please - when is a good time to start them off - based in Dublin so mild winters

many thanks

How much compost to put in ?  I do about 4 - 6 inches  and then cover 2 seeds just covering  , can't recall when I sow but it will be soon.
we also rescue rabbits and guinea pigs, grow own veg

Could you let us know if they need some kind of support? I grow earlies in bags and end up having to tie the top growth to the shed to stop them flopping over. On the allotment do you bunch all the growth together with string or just let them flop down? Thanks

They are usually self-supporting until towards the end of the growing period, when they naturally fall over even if planted in the soil.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Great. I'm going to give this a go this year then. Thanks!
