Title: sweetcorn
Post by: sawnee on May 04, 2011, 19:41
Hi guys, just a quick one for the experts.
My sweetcorn has been a disaster with only a third of them coming up, can I plant the seeds straight into the soil or is there still time to plant another batch into pots?

I started chitting mine 2 days ago, haven't yet put them into compost in paper pots, so you have time still.

I personally wouldn't sow direct.

My last batch last year (of Swift F1) was sown on 9th June, then matured in early September and were a bit late for us - although the latter part of the Summer was dreadful here.

This year I'll stop at the end of May ... in Kent you should be good for at least that late.
