Put it into tatties or green manure - reckon it'd be less work than grass.

If there is a waiting list in your area, you'll get complaints anyway!

I would seed it with a mixture of grass and a green manure and mow it regularly - all the clippings can be added to the compost bin or used as a mulch on what you do manage to cultivate.  Good Luck.

Why dont you try sectioning your plot into strips wide enough for you to reach from either side of a path. That way you dont need to do too much digging as your not standing on the soil and you will be able to decide to look after one section at a time each visit.

But did  you notice.... how nobody said how many hrs a week they put into their plot........   8) :)

I'm putting alot of hours in at the moment, but thats not a fair comparasion to the others as I've just taken the plot on and its full of mares tail and couch grass and other nasties that are slowly being cleared..

I's difficult to say as

a) You need to work around the weather
2) You need to work around your available hours
iii) You can only do what needs doing. I may have the available time, but I can't plant tomatoes outside yet!!

I'm sure there's more.

Last week I did about 15 hrs - 3 hrs Monday to Friday.

Since last Friday - Zippo - too cold & windy - now it's wet!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

In the summertime...normally about 5/6 hours per day or longer if I have lots to do. This time of year a quick in and out between the showers :)...usually about 2/3 hours most days.

ok i will say i havent put more than 18 hours in since november .i have hand dug my 4  is all .in spring with planting .which i havent started yet i will be doing a couple hours a week and then weeding and hoeing will be an hour .whilst its all growing it will be 5 hours a week with an hours weeding the thing is folks i can takeless time because i am on top of my plots literally being outside the back gate . also i havent got to do any major work such as those who have just started if you can spend an hour  a day during the week probably of an evening just checking on things and walking round with a hoe in ya hand   your going to be fine the weekend morning maybe for getting those other plants in or sowing more peas  , please dont count the hours in a sense of i have to get this done .its a garden believe it or not you have a month to do most sowing and planting of crops .all seed packets come with a planting time .dont think its the bible to stick to that time it certainly isnt i have sown peas right up to sept and picked them 6 weeks later with a micromesh sheet tent  over them in the first weeks of  october giving an extra month to them. what im trying to say is give your self a couple hours to go and weed during the week if your working all day and then sat or sunday morning go and do the heavy stuff/if you have to water then your talking an hour a day anyways so while the sprayers going do something else
still alive /............
