Strange addiction
« on: December 21, 2017, 13:22 »
For the past couple of months I've been addicted to Egremont Russet apples. One of my trees produced, at a guess, 100kg of them. They keep well in a frost-proof shed and now, a couple of months after harvesting are in good condition. Trouble is that I can't leave them alone and have been eating at least four a day. I can't digest the peel, so I peel and core them before slicing up and eating. The Shetlands get the cores and peelings as part of their daily diet, so nothing is wasted.

Anyone else developed a strange addiction?

Raw carrots! Just washed and eaten or grated with other veg into slaw - at least one a day now  ::)

It started as just a good healthy choice for when I have the nibbles, but now I think I'm addicted - I'll be turning orange or start hopping soon

I do but they don't last. A number of years ago when I came home from night school I had to have a Mars Bar. Others have been Cox's apples with plain crisps, baked beans on toasted tea-cakes, Maynard's wine gums (still going) but my all-time favourite is a good, tangy Prawn Cocktail Sauce! Apart from the usual I like it with egg and tomato sandwiches.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Peanut butter and banana sandwiches, or now - Ryvita Crackerbread ditto...

But as we've been watching old 'Hi de Hi' progs (don't watch anything on the BBC any more, mainly rubbish), Geoffrey Fairbrother's favourite - 'A few Bath Olivers, a bit of Stilton and some grapes'...

Marvellous together...
