greenhouse bed
« on: April 16, 2012, 19:51 »
I have a bed in the green house which ive dug out the soil and mixed in a couple of bags of compost, down to 12-15 inches. I have planted beetroot in it. The top of the soil is covered in green (i don't know is moss or algae).
Will I have to pull it out and start again?

Thanks

IT is probaly algae. Just scuff up the surface and it should be fine.

You won't need to start again, don't worry

(Mine is like that on one side right now)

Could be a silly question, but why beetroot in a greenhouse?

It's a relatively speedy harvest, but I doubt you'll have them ready before the tomatoes need to go in.

I suspect they won't make a lot of bulky root as they won't like it that warm. All is not lost though as you can use them as salad leaves.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
