Hi there everyone! Can anyone advise me on the best way to lay a base for my new shed that will be arriving in the next couple of weeks. I've been told shingle with paving slabs on top is a good idea, Is it? Also how would you fix it to stop it blowing over in high winds?

If laying your base on (rather than dug into) the ground, a narrow strip of mortar/concrete around the perimeter will keep the gravel in and rats out.

Some pre-drilled galvanised metal roof straps (Wickes, etc.) nailed to the corners of your shed and with the bent end cast into concrete foundations will help prevent it blowing over.

If laying a floor on timber bearers, lengths of expanded metal lath or strips of weldmesh across the ends will keep vermin out.
