hi guys , i have never posted over here before until someone mentioned it , i need some advice on a size of house for my 18 ex batts .

at the mo they have an 8'6 shed that works well for them  but i have an idea of building a long oblong tpye house .

16 foot long { 2 8'4 sheets of ply laying next to each other } , then 2 of the same size for the back , roof ,then 2 at front to be made into doors , then 1 cut down for the ends .
so my house would end up being 16ft long , 4 ft wide , and 4 ft depth  with ladders going up to openings ethier end .
the house will be placed of the ground srcewed to cut down fence posts an i am looking at doing them about a foot high or maybe 2 ft , i have rats going in the run at night  so with having the new house up higher i can keep an eye out better as the shed at the mo is oly about 5 inches of the ground an its differcult to check underneath it especailly while the grounds wet.

would this size house be ok for 18 girls   :?:

I think you might get a better response if you ask on a hen page.  Those guys know so much about chickens and would know the sq mtrage or sq footage per hen.  Sounds nice and big to me.

i there duckling yes i have posted in there then someone said try this chat but i have had more response in the hen house section , i am still in 2 minds if to do it or not .to many ppl giving me to many answers an i am confused

My fault Looby. I was thinking about advice for the actual construction but I think you've got that sorted.

what i need to do is use that progamme that Rh was using for his run but that to me looks complicated an my brain aint that bright
