Broody nest chicks!
« on: May 14, 2010, 00:01 »
As some of you may of read, my broody is sitting on  4 eggs which im hoping will hatch in 7 days time anyway will she sit on them while they hatch?

Would it be better to take them away once hatched and look after them at home under a light or just let them get on with it?

Best Wishes

Hi there, let her get on with it  :)she will do it all, they just need chick crumb and a shallow drinker, believe me it can be very hard working looking after chicks i currently have 30 in the house and for the first week i spend most of my time cleaning them out ::)I would only take them away if she abandons them once hatched or attacks them.
I usually leave them with mum for around 7 weeks ,both our broodys then started laying so i took that as the hint!
