Back from hol's...plot gone mad.
« on: August 22, 2010, 20:53 »
2 weeks in france and we asked three people to visit our plot regularly and pick all that needed picking and do with it as they pleased. Watering can wait but PLEASE pick!
Got back last night and visited the plot this afternoon.....Never seen anything like it,about a wheelbarrow full of marrows on the courgettes,a large shopping bag each of french and runner beans, all way past their best. Loads of oversized cucumbers, cabbages, beetroot, lettuces etc,etc.....the only bright spot was the sweetcorn which we were convinced would be past it on our return was just right....tonight we feasted :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2: with the promise of more to come :D

This is our first full year and a valuable lesson learnt.....we've put in way more than we can use and going away at the height of the cropping season means a lot of waste if you cant rely on others to do it for you....(freezer is already full from pickings before august!!)
