Raspberry near a Bramley tree not in shade

Can I grow raspberries successfully  near a large bramley tree?
The soil is clay, any other useful advice would be great.

They might struggle - apple trees are notoriously shallow rooted, as are raspberries.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
