Went into my favourite GC on Thursday to buy my seed pot's. I thought there was a shortage this year. He has over 50 varieties priced at £3 per 2.5 KG. Just wondered how this compares to where you lot will be buying them.

That sounds like a good price, the GC that I use there spuds start at £3.00 upwards for 2.5Kg

Wilkos have some 2.5K bags at £3.30. Not loads of choice though.

Also got packs of 5 seed spuds (rooster and Charlotte etc) for £1.50.

Poundland has bags of 9 for a quid. About 4 varieties

I have numerous 2kg packs coming from marshalls at between 5 and 6 pounds a pack, but they do well

I went into my local Wyevale today and they had their usual big selection of seed spuds, £3.95 per 2.5 kg bag, plus a decent selection of loose spuds. They didn't seem to have any Lady Christl though, and I wanted to try those this year.

Lady Christl is also marked as unavailable on the list of the garden centre that I use at Wantage, and it was on my grow list for this year

Anyway I brought another 11 seed potatoes today at dobbies
What a selection
Got 5 desiree and 3 rocket and 3 homeguard to try out
Got around 40 for the garden now
Think I need a few more bags  lol
20p each in dobbies or bags for about 4quid

Popped into Sanders Garden World at Brent Knoll today to spend the garden voucher that I received on 25th December.

As usual a very wide choice, pre packed seed potatoes were £3.99 for two kilos and loose were £1.69 a kilo.

Needless to say I selected all loose varieties where I could pick each tuber individually. Around 1.5 kilos each of Lady Christl and Kestrel, and half that weight of Vanessa, Casablanca, and Sante.

Next, on to Mole Valley Farmers, Bridgwater, where seed was £3.19 for three kilos or six kilos for £6, cheaper than eating spuds in the greengrocers! Came away with a bag each of Charlotte and Romano for £6.



Also needed some broad beans, a kilo of Masterpiece Green Longpod for £1.35 per half kilo, and a bag of Aquadulce to plant next November, for £1.95 per half kilo.

We get our potatoes through our allotment society, they come in 3Kg sacks @ just under £3. If we get them in 25Kg sacks they work oput @ approx £2.50 for £Kg.
