can any tell me if it's ok to cook the skins and feed to the hens as treats please thankyou (mods sorry if in wrong place )

My choocks love getting cooked up potato skins, but I usually add all sorts of other peelings to the mix too. Winter Sunday lunch is always their treat too..carrot peelings, cauli leaves, swede peelings and so on. I make sure they are always well cooked, give em a blitz with a stick blender and serve warm..  If it's really cold I cook some porridge in there too.

I don't do it so much in the summer, as there is plenty of grass and other young leaves/greens they can eat, and I don't peel the potatoes!!

Potatoes skins are fine - so long as they are cooked. Lucky girls!

thankyou for the re-ply, they are well cooked, so they can have that tonight instead of their mixed corn which wount go down well with 1 of them as she loves her mixed corn befor bed time...
my lot are on my plot so no grass or greens left  so trying to give them something dirrereant each night to make up for the fact no green stuff growing..

Yes I give my girls cooked potato peelings as a treat and they love them

mine wont eat them unless cooked, but dont cook much esle cos they eat them raw given half a chance and as daft as they appear at times they know whats bad for them
