as i cant have the heating on, i decided to do some baking, so i could be in the kitchen with the oven on.

made cheese scones.. delicious. so thought id share the recipe.

225g/8oz self raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
50g/1 3/4 oz butter cold and grated
125g/4 1/2oz mature sharp cheese grated
2 tsp mustard powder
150ml / 1/4 pint of milk

chuck everything except cheese into a bowl, mush to make bread crumbs

add cheese and milk to make a dough

knead the dough lightly and make into a big ball

flatten it to about 1inch thick.

cut into 8 or 10 wedges

brush with milk and top with fresh ground black pepper

throw onto a baking tray in the oven. 220c/ 425f/ gas mark 7

10 to 15 minutes later, cut open, slather with butter and chomp away.

Cheese scones are Brian's favourites, but I usually put the black pepper in with the mustard powder!
