Ginger

I've done a fair bit of reading up on this as I've been keen to grow ginger but have yet to get any pieces to sprout well (could be the growth inhibitor they often spray them with to increase their shelf life). Top marks for getting a plant going!

From what I've read, when repotting you should be thinking of width rather than depth as the roots spread horizontally so I'd suggest replanting into a wide container, perhaps twice as wide as the pot.

In terms of harvesting, I think you can do it at any time but if you take half of it to use, it will take another year for that half to regrow so it makes sense to only take a minimal portion and leave the rest to really get going.

What time of year did you originally plant yours and did you pre-sprout it?
