Question is what type of plants.
I tried a solution of orange peel, garlic, a drop of soap and a couple of hot chillies, added these to a litre of water and then made a brew, liquidised it and ran it through a sieve, diluted again with a litre of water and sprayed the brassicas, it was for caterpillers but found it worked a treat on slugs, dont think they like chilli.

4 orange peels
2 garlic cloves
2 drops of liquid soap
2 hot chillies
2 tsp black pepper (forgot about that)
1 ltr water.
In a pan put everything in and bring to the boil, simmer for around 20 mins and leave to cool till warm, put in a juicer/ liquidiser and liquidise. Run through a sieve into a bottle and add the litre of water, leave a couple of days and then use as a spray.

Looking back I used for black fly on the broad beans and on the brassicas

I did  trial's  last year basically the same as Aidy no orange peels and no black pepper but i did add some cooking oil to my mix and it seems to work on our brassicas for controlling aphids and caterpillars I don't know if it deterred slugs though but after what's been said I mite spray the ground at the same time i spray the crops to see if it works for slug control to
