Hi, I'm new to the forum and website, despite having my Lottie for about 5 years I've only just found you. Looking forward to getting the monthly newsletters etc!

I've just read the excellent article on Fertiliser requirements of Leafy Brassicas on the site
https://www.allotment-garden.org/vegetable/brassica-information/fertiliser-requirements-cabbages-leafy-brassicas/ But I'm still having a blank with the sums of it!

I didn't get to add manure to the Brassica plot this year, so am starting from nothing. My Brassica patch is 2m2 x 4m2. I want to add it in thirds (ie. now, in 6 weeks time and 12 weeks time). So I would add roughly 8g per application? And to achieve that, the amounts per application would be
Dried Blood 70g m2
Chicken Manure Pellets 178g m2
Nitro Chalk 30g m2

Is that right? My seedlings are pretty ready to go in, so should I wait a week after application to get them in?

THANK YOU for reading, and even more thank yous if you help me!

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Don't stress about it - I grow decent brassicas just by sprinkling a good handful of chicken manure pellets per square yard/metre and the same of Blood Fish and Bone and working it into the topsoil. When I plant the seedlings I also add a few chicken manure pellets into the bottom of the planting hole.
After a couple of months, or whenever they look a bit sad, I add another sprinkle of manure pellets round each plant...simples  :D

Ah yes, I usually 'wing-it' a bit too, but I thought this year I'd try and be a bit more scientific
