I have 3 roses - a red, a white and a lemon yellow one called the 'Brownie rose' - I used to be a brownie so it seemed the right buy!
All are hybrid teas and all smell amazing.

I'm lucky to be an hour and a half from RHS Rosemoor and their 2 rosegardens are amazing. I can feel almost drunk on the scent of roses (and I do stick my nose right in and inhale deeply for minutes at a time)

I visited another local garden and there was a peachy coloured hybrid tea rose there with an amazing scent - wish I could remember where I wrote down the name! ::)

I find people differ in their ability to detect scent and its strength; also some roses emit their scent at different times of the day.

I certainly cannot detect any scent from my Zephirine Drouhin or my Iceberg despite claims in the catalogues that they are scented, so you may be right there Goosegirl.  Had a sniff of my MIL's Getrude Jekyll and it smells divine though, so that one's a definate.

Maybe the rose catalogues should state the time of day the scent is released so that we can choose varieties for day-round scent!

No matter how many plants I have in my garden, I can always find room for one more.

Thank you, you've reminded me to dig up a little rose I grew from seed ready for if we move. I don't do prickly plants. I was given a gift box to grow your own roses from M&S from a little girl when she left nursery, so I wouldn't want to be without it at least 17 years later :)

I've got to get up a ladder and train our Lady Hillingdon, as she is about 15' high now, and waving all over the place...

I have Mme. Alfred Carriere in my garden (in fact I love it so much I have two).  It flowers all summer long, with a first bountiful flush, followed by slightly less blooms through the rest of the summer. It is a beautiful,  creamy white rose, with a very slight flush of pink at the centre of some of the flowers. The perfume is an old fashioned, proper rose scent, and even if you brush the leaves with your hand they are scented too. It has fewer thorns than many, and is a healthy plant.  Lovely for making pot pourri, and in a vase. I wouldn't be without it.
