Kite bird scarer...

One of our plot neighbours has one of those big kites shaped like a hawk, on a long pole, and it does look quite lifelike!

We're wondering if some us also get one to 'cover' the whole set of plots (only about fifteen), and I wonder if anyone here has tried using these things? We may finish up with four or so...

We think it made a difference last year, but aren't totally convinced yet!

I've seen them in commercial strawberry fields so they obviously have faith in them.

I reckon as they move around in the wind, no smaller bird is going to take the chance!

Saw that they had a few on the Kew on a plate prog, mind you they also had mooching foxes and voles in the beetroot ! :)
