Does the light attract them in?  I did put a bit of food on the ladder, hoping one or more would eat their way up and attract the others.  One did eat the food but from the side.

Oh Henlady I am sorry but that did make me laugh.  I can just imagine you sitting patiently waiting for them to fall for your trick and walk up the ladder only for you to see them outwit you and eat it from the side!  They will get the hang of it eventually don't worry, although that is easy for me to say I know!

I have read on this site that this should work Henlady. I will let you know. I believe that after afew nights they should get the hang of it and all will be ok.
Otherwise I think the sisters are plotting against us.

Hi,

I had the same problem last week when I picked up my 3 Black Rocks on Tuesday !
The first 2 nights I had to make a fool of myself in the run getting them into the coup  ???
By Friday they were putting themselves to bed at dusk  :)

They soon get hang of it, mind you I've had an egg every day since Thursday,  well chuffed  :)

I had a torch in the house for about 30/45 minutes and they were interested but couldn't work out how to get up there.  Or maybe they could and wanted to see what I would do.  I got three in with out much problem, I had a stick through the cage to gently nudge them to near the door so I could direct them up the ladder.

The last, the white sussex, seemed like a stoppy toddler not wanting to go to bed.  But eventually she was safely locked away.  I'm at work tomorrow and I'll open the house before I go so they will have to find their own way out and hopefully that will mean they will know where to go to bed.

The supplier said to keep them in the run this week and then let them out so I'll get some photos then and post them.
