Hi and welcome,

I am pretty new to this forum as well. Just got my allotment this year so growing most things for the first time.
Seems like you already grow quite alot of stuff.
Any useful tips?

Hi lentil987

Well I am a very laid back gardener  :)

tips hmmm well I use cardboard innards from toilet rolls, and kitchen towels as pots, I have also lined one of my bed with newspaper to help retain moisure, it seems to be working very well! hopefully the squash will like it.  Using raised beds I do not have much trouble with carrot root fly.

It is amazing how much you can grow even in a smallish plot, there is only me and my OH and he isn't a great veg eater, so the two raised beds is enough for us.  I also like growing herbs and I have got Rosemary, thyme, coriander, mint, basil, purple sage and a few others growing.

I think my raised beds are about 5' x 8' each, and are quite deep.

Oh another tip, but I am sure you have read this already is to use squash/fizzy drink bottles as cloches, just cut in half, they do a very good job and you can always use the end with the top on pushed firmly into the soil and just fill with water (obviously taking off the top before hand) to water your plants

Talking of misery, my tip for tonight after planting spuds and rotovating is Radox in a hot bath.

John,
You've seen the picture elsewhere on the forums!
I been a member here for just a couple of months and so my picture is on my posts.
Why? DO you think I look like someone famous? Glamorous?? Hmm ...perhaps not  :D

Without doubt glamorous, just have the feeling I've seen your picture elsewhere - probably just another sign of my brain going!
