Newby Needs Rotavator Advice Please
« on: March 14, 2007, 13:15 »
Can anyone advise me please of a reasonable make/model for a second hand rotavator?  I'm just starting out and need something easy to use and maintain. To be honest, I've no idea what I'm looking for and I don't want to be stung by purchasing the wrong thing.  Any andice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your quick replies!  I'll look at the Merry Tiller, thanks.  I have four scalped patches of 12 x 6 - don't want to start too big in case I put myself off!!  The soil is pretty good but hasn't been turned since Roman times so my silly little fork isnt up to the job, hence me wanting mechanical help.

99p Strooth - good find! I had thought around the £50 mark for a first purchase just to see how we get on. Thanks for the tip.

I GOT ONE!!!! Perhaps someone can tell me what they think of the ATCO CADET ?? I can't find anything at all on the web referring to it! It's got a nice B&S engine which starts first pull, 4 tines and is in good nic.  Are parts (If I ever need any) hard to come by?  Can't wait to christen it on Sunday!

I think this is the same as the Merry tiller cadet and my Wizard. Well done nice little machine. Parts for the engine should be OK, but for the rest of it a bit of ingenuity and skip diving will be needed, but i doubt you will need any thing. Keep it well oiled.

I find it a well balanced machine and easy to use. Light to shove in the boot ect as well. lacking in accessories but good little worker. But I am going to sell mine as I have far to many rotovators.
