several kg raspberries in freezer
similar amount of parsnips
a tray of whole chillies in the freezer
about 8 large red peppers in the freezer, whole
a bagful of mixed tomatoes from last autumn in the freezer, whole.
about a dozen garlic bulbs

the flesh of several butternut squashes (roasted last autumn and ready to defrost for a pie, soup, puree etc..)

6 jars of homemade piccalilli
2 jars of homemade spiced sweetcorn relish
4 jars of beetroot in balsamic vinegar
2 jars of smoked beetroot relish
7 jars of pickled shallots
2 jars of courgette chutney
1 jar of caramelised shallot and chilli jam

And shed loads of wild rocket and mixed leaves in the greenhouse that were sown early winter and are making wonderful salads at the moment, which will keep us going until this year's sowings are ready

garlic and shallots
still picking purple sprouting broccoli  :)
half a jar of raspberry jam

I would have more soft fruit but we had the electrician in to rewire the house so I totally emptied the freezer.

And I still haven't planted any salad leaves!

Not got much in the freezer - just a bit of soft fruit.

Jars - got various pickles, chutneys, jelllies and other concoctions, but will use them up over the spring and summer so ready for the autumn preserving season.

My stars at the mo are my dried veggies - got borlotti beans, courgettes, beetroots, potatoes, chillies plus wild mushrooms foraged by OH.  Keep dipping into them.  Also got dried apple rings which are great for snacking but can also rehydrate for puds and bulking out my soft fruit supplies  :D

Although I rarely plan meals, I do tend to use the fresh stuff up first like potatoes, onions, garlic and squash, so although the cupboard is nearly empty bar a few cloves of garlic and a handful of potatoes destined for chips, the freezer and jarred/dried stuff is still going strong - I had an exceptionally good year last year with loads more carrots, turnips, apples, potatoes, tomatoes and squashes than I usually expect.  My overwintered leeks and parsnips have all been dug up and eaten now, and I didn't grow any brassicas (oh except my Christmas sprouts which were harvested and frozen) which is just as well by the looks of the long faces I've seen at the allotment plots since Christmas ....  :nowink:

A few leeks and parsnips left on the plot, some rhubarb and blackberries in the freezer and  half a jar of pickled onions. Even the ready steady cook guys would find this tough to work with!

Now that I've got an allotment, this will be my first year of trying to be as self sufficient for fruit and veg as possible.  Can I ask how many people grow most of their own potatoes and if so - how many tubers do you plant?  I've tried to do my own calculations and I know how many spuds you get per tuber is up to debate and variety, but I'm just trying to get an idea if its possible.

Thanks,
