ok fellow allotment holders, All my brussels have blown,I staked the plants to keep them firm but that did not work. I also had a white fly problem on the plants,would that have been the reason for my downfall. I have earthed up all the plants in sheer disgust as I did not know what to do,but I did use some of the tops for our Sunday Lunch. Your help in solving this problem for next year would be most helpful.many thanks

You have no location in your profile, so I don't know if you had the recent unseasonably warm spell as we did in Kent?

I think that's what caused some of my sprouts to blow

wouldnt be the whitefly, more likely to be cultural conditions, so as you seem to have done most things right its probably a weather malfunction!
