hi all, is there a variety of sprouts that are less likely to produce loose buttons?

I think the problem is one of poor preparation rather than poor genetics Drare.
About half of my sprouts were 'blown' this year, and I put it down to having planted them in recently-dug soil that wasn't compacted, and not planting them deep enough.
Next year I'll definitely do it differently.

Poor planting/preparation causes blown sprouts.

They're a hungary crop.

ok cheers. was a new plot this year so had been well dug. will leave the site for sprouts next year.

They say you should stamp the ground down before you plant.
If you do remember to take shoes, not sandals like what I did
