HI,

I have been given a cucamelon plant by a fellow plot holder who had some spare, are there any tips for growing them. They seem to be more of a vine type plant and will require some sort of framework to grow up.

Any advice or hints will be gratefully received.

The are a vine and need something to climb.  I have only grown them inside the greenhouse, but some on here last year had them outside in a sunny sheltered spot and did well.  Just treat them like cucumbers.

My main tip would be to prune them back onto whatever support you are growing them on.  If you let them, they grow masses of foliage and no fruit.  If you keep them under control by pruning (nothing complicated, just cut off any wandering tendrils), they focus on fruiting

Yes, never let them loose amongst a grape vine in the roof of your greenhouse, for example, or let them escape their confines to twine around your tomatoes 

Vigorous plants, that do fruit better when controlled alright
