Just when I thought I had the 3 broody girls sussed (turns each at being broody in 3 week cycles equalling in 1 egg a day) they proved me wrong and produced 2 eggs today.    Here's hoping there's 3 tomorrow or i that asking too much?

Jinty, How big and what colour eggs do you get from them? I've got a Silkie Sussex cross as well. I've been getting some small white/cream eggs which I've put down to my bantam Malay. If it is her laying them all then she's equal to the hybrids and better than some of the 'good' egg laying birds, so I had wondered if the Silkie Sussex may have been laying as well?

They are fawn coloured eggs.  So small that they still fall through my egg holder.  Grace (pictured) lays the smallest and lightest coloured ones but then she is the smallest and cream coloured whereas her 2 sisters are bigger and reddish.

Well as long as they keep practising that's fine.  2 eggs again today and when checked them at bed-time they were all perchin. I stroked them to say goodnight and not 1 of them growled at me. Things are looking up
