Help - installing electric fencing

I would suggest you use a length of 3 core (twin and earth) from a diy store. The lead out cables are normaly double insulated but it should be ok.

OOpps -

The lead out cable is a special double insulated cable design to provide insulation against the 6000Volt shock voltage.  Mains cable is only rated at 600 volts though might go a bit higher but not to the 6K you need.  I'm not sure about the rating of artic cable but again that's designed for low temperature use and probably does use higher rated insulated materials.  However the simple solution to your problem is to extend the twin core cable between your plug top power supply and your energiser.  The energiser will be rated IPX4 for external use so you can mount it in your garden if you want on the garage or a pole.  You won't need any special cable for this as the power supply is only 12 volts however youll need to cut the cable from the power supply to splice in the extension.  Make absolutely sure you mark each conductor of the Power supply cable on both sides of the cut so when you splice in the new cable you ensure that you connect the same wire through to tyhe other end ie don't get the wires twisted or you could damage the power supply. Though the energiser should be protected against this.  If you feel unsure about the wiring just put the energiser outside on the net and connect a charged car battery to it .  Instructions for this should be in your kit.  As long as you are only away for less than 4 weeks it should easily last out.
